Cruise Apparel –
Choose The Right Travel Apparel
And Guarantee Yourself A Great Trip
If you're lucky enough to be going on a cruise you have to have good
travel apparel to make sure you not only look good while you're out on
the water, but that you are comfortable and protected from the elements
as well.
Wen packing for a cruise there are a number of things you should keep in
mind because the right cruise clothing can make or break your cruise
vacation.
What you need wherever you go
Depending on the climate you’ll be traveling to your travel apparel will vary but the overriding thought is you want to bring the most comfortable clothing.
- For casual evening events, most men wear sport coats and slacks while women wear casual evening clothes.
- For formal dining such as the Captain’s Ball, you will need formal wear. Men can often rent a tux on board to save packing space. However, women should bring cocktail dresses or gowns.
- Keep in mind that the port you arrive at could be more conservative than your own country. So it's better to dress up then to dress down. When you dress casually but stylishly your resort wear will exhibit respect for other cultures.
For cold weather
- If you're going to a colder or damper climate, pack a raincoat or poncho, sweaters or sweatshirts, and lightweight jackets.
- It's often best to layer your clothing. For example, you could put on a T-shirt, wear a flannel shirt over it, and top it off with a light jacket.
For warm weather
What can be deceiving about being on a ship in warmer climates is that you probably think you are going to be very hot what with being out in the middle of the water on a blistering hot day.
For the most part though, you’re going to get cool breezes that will make you feel more comfortable.
So your travel apparel doesn’t have to be primarily shorts.
- You might want to get long pants made of very breathable materials that won’t retain the heat.
- Wear a light shirt or blouse and you’re good to go.
- Summer sun dresses are also good choices for women.
Remember that the sun will glare off the water as you cruise. So even though you might feel cool with the ocean breezes you could still get a lot of sunlight reflected off the water.
The last thing you need is a sunburn.
- Make sure to bring sun screen with a sun protection factor of 45 or higher. If you do get a sunburn, aloe can help sooth the pain.
- Also consider wearing a hat so you don’t end up with a nasty burn on the top of your head after strolling along the promenade deck.
You can find trendy boating apparel in a lot of places but some of the best places to get it is in larger department stores. You can also find some great cruise apparel on the Internet.
